The Pathogen Genomics Center of Excellence (current)

This project is a collaboration between public health and academic partners in order to protect communities from infectious disease threats. To do this, we have established a network centered on initiatives that will translate academic research and improve molecular epidemiology practice and epidemic response.
My lab is in charge of designing and testing a long reads-based sequencing technique (dubbed the HiFiCo-Seq) on respiratory virus panels. The method allows for full-length genome sequencing and the assembly of co-occurring viruses.

This is the NextStrain instance for the SARS-COV2 genomes we sequenced from samples from Huston Texas.  the Project was funded by CDC:  Molecular Epidemiology and Transmission Dynamics of COVID-19 in Houston. Justin Bahl and Magdy Alabady
